Welcome to Rajun Kennels
With over 50 years of experience, Marty Johnson's passion for dog training continues to grow. His goal is to make every training session enjoyable for your dog while achieving confident, animated obedience and great manners — the kind of transformation that makes people stop and stare at the dog park.
Every dog is treated like family. Marty ensures their stay is as happy and comfortable as possible. Think of the experience as a fun "stay-cation" — meeting new friends, learning new skills, and building the foundation for a happier life together. His website here.
The Program
The primary focus of the program. Your dog will respond reliably off-leash in real-world environments, not just in a training facility.
Problem behaviors like jumping, pulling, reactivity, and anxiety are addressed head-on using Marty's proven communication methods.
You'll learn techniques to establish yourself as the pack leader at home, so your dog looks to you for direction and stays calm under pressure.
Go-home day includes hands-on training with you. Marty will walk you through every command so you can maintain and build on your dog's progress.
Photos and videos posted regularly to Marty's Facebook page so you can watch your dog's transformation in real time.
Once Marty trains your dog, you have his support for life. If you ever need a refresher or have questions, he's just a call away.
Program Schedule
Marty runs a tight, structured program. Here's what to expect from drop-off to go-home day. See the optional Week 3 program below.
| Day | What Happens |
|---|---|
| Sunday (Day 1) | New dogs arrive. Marty gets acquainted with each dog, assesses temperament, and begins socialization. |
| Days 2–4 | Foundation work begins. E-collar introduction at the lowest stimulation level. Basic commands, leash manners, and attention exercises. |
| Days 5–9 | Building commands off-leash. Behavior modification. Proofing in new environments. Progress photos posted to Facebook. |
| Days 10–13 | Advanced off-leash work. Distance commands, distractions, real-world scenarios. Final polish. |
| Saturday (Day 14) | Go-home day at noon. Owner training session with Marty. Full demo of what your dog has learned. You leave confident. |
New Program Addition
The next level of training has arrived. Marty has added an optional Week 3 to the program, taking dogs out into the community to proof their skills in the real-world settings where it matters most.
To be eligible, your dog must first complete Marty's 2-week board and train program. Week 3 is open to all past graduates as a tune-up combined with in-town training. New dogs can add it on at the end of their initial 2-week session.
It's one week of real-world proofing that takes everything your dog learned in training and puts it to the test out in the wild.

Training Method
Marty trains using a remote training collar (e-collar), introduced at the lowest level the dog can feel. The collar acts as a communication tool — not a punishment device. Dogs quickly understand it as a gentle tap that means "pay attention," and they're happy to wear it.
You will need to purchase the e-collar before drop-off day. Marty recommends the Garmin Tri Tronics Sport Pro. Call Cindy at (805) 674-5579 for more information on this collar.
